Recruiting and Training Your Organization’s Web Team
What will bring people back repeatedly to your web site is fresh content, and fresh content requires workers in your organization who will write articles and take pictures and video clips, plus other persons with the skills to take these raw materials and employ them in web pages.
Here is a good setup for a web team to accomplish these tasks:
A web team captain to supervise all aspects of the website and report to the organization’s leadership periodically to insure that the web site is accomplishing its purpose. The captain should possess leadership and management skills, and should be technologically skilled enough to supervise the other team members.
- Two web page posters. The posters take the raw material for web pages and incorporate them in web pages. Tools for web editing have improved so much that little knowledge of coding is required anymore. However, over the long haul this work does get tedious. That’s one reason why two posters are needed. The other reasons are illness and vacations.
- Two writer-editors. Few people write well nowadays, so these two should be among your better writers. They should be able to edit others’ work submitted to them. They must edit with respect and tact. Are you beginning to see that people skills are required up and down the line? Again, at least two writer-editors are needed, for the same reasons as stated in the previoius paragraph.
- A photographer/video shooter is handy for the team, although one of your writer-editors might also take on this duty.
- So, at a minimum you will probably need five to six people for your web team. You might squeak by short term with three, but they won’t be able to sustain a srong effort if your site is as active as you want it to be.
When you contract with Teledavis your first job will be to recruit a web team. Teledavis will help you train them.
