We hope that all of you are well and that you will let us know what’s going on in your lives.
Tom has started a non-profit organization, the Interfaith Veterans’ Workgroup, with multiple facets, all geared toward preventing veterans’ suicide. This new path has involved him in several additional monthly meetings. As you will see by the video below, he still has time for playing with cameras.
Together we hike and are active in our local peace group, Pacem in Terris, and in the much smaller Wilmington Peacekeepers, who hold a weekly street meeting, usually at a place in Wilmington where there has been a shooting in the previous week.
Alice still co-manages the community garden with her 88-year old colleague. The whiteflies got almost all the greens this year, but we have an action plan for next year. Alice teaches yoga and sometimes pilates, and is in the process of moving from trainee to instructor in a volunteer-led balance class to prevent falls among seniors. Does it confer more or less credibility on her that she had two falls recently, one stupid and preventable and the other from no apparent cause? After two months in physical therapy, she started to work her way back into hiking yesterday.
Matt and Lisa and their three children, and Adam and Jenn and their one are too far away to visit very often. We always enjoy our visits with them.
Wilmingtonians didn’t think we were going to have a colorful autumn, but things improved by early November, as this video shows. The peppy tenth movement of Handel’s Water Music seemed a fitting sound track.
Peace and love,
Alice and Tom
